High Temperature Heat Resistant & Radiant Heat Reflective Aluminum Film & Foil Coated Fabric
Aluminum Coated Radiant
Heat Reflective Fiberglass Fabric
This high temperature, heat resistant aluminum film and aluminum foil coated fabric reflects radiant heat and is the perfect protection for covering equipment that is in close proximity to intense radiant sources such as super-hot metal slabs, liquid and molten metals or glass, open flame/plasma or engine exhaust manifolds. Protects industrial wire, cable, hose, hydraulics and equipment cabinets and enclosures.
This heat reflective fabric reflects 95% or more of the radiant heat that contacts its surface. Constructed from a high-temperature base fiberglass or aramid fabric which is then coated with aluminum foil or aluminum film.
Aluminum foil coating is best for static applications and temperatures up to 650°F / 343°C, this fabric will withstand short duration exposure up to 1115°F / 600°C and up to 3000°F / 1650°C for very short durations. The aluminum coating melts at 1220°F / 660°C, however it does take some time for the aluminum to absorb enough heat to melt - thereby it can withstand short exposure to the higher temperatures.
Aluminum film coating is best for dynamic applications such as bellows and flexible joints and for insulation blanket outer layer.
Available in the following fabric weights: 11, 15, 16, 19, 21 and 35 ounces per square yard with base materials of Fiberglass, Kevlar and Rayon.
This fabric is also available with a self-adhesive backing. The adhesive is acrylic based, and will burn-off or vaporize at temperatures above 400°F. If prolonged use of the self-adhesive fabric above 400°F is desired, then alternate securing methods such as fasteners, wire or clamps should be used. Personnel should avoid inhaling fumes from the PSA.
